In December 2010 a much loved and respected member of the Beyond The Box team, Priya Mistry, died tragically along with her baby son Jayden.
News of their passing left everyone who knew Priya in complete shock. We couldn’t change the past but we could make a difference and help shape the future and that is exactly what we set about doing.
We launched a campaign called ‘It’s A Mistry’ and aimed to raise sufficient money to purchase at least one SIPAP machine for the Lister hospital in Stevenage. Through a range of activities such as a sponsored climb up Ben Nevis (phew!), many busy and very popular tea parties and a successful sponsored slim, we raised enough money for
- the SIPAP machine in the baby unit in Stevenage hospital
- sending many disabled and challenged children to the circus via Circus Starr
- much needed funds to The Christie Hospital in Manchester
Our current total for money donated is over £4,000, reflecting our focus on maintaining the memory of Priya and Jayden Mistry and creating a lasting legacy to their all too short lives.
